Golkonda fort
Golkonda which means "shepard's hill" in Telegu was built in 1143 CE by the Kakatiya rulers of Warangal. It passed throught the hands of the Nayaka, Bahamani and Qutub Shahi rulers and eventually vandalized by Aurangzeb in 1687 CE. Today, despite its ruined condition, it stands as a glorious remnant of Hyderabad's long history. The beautiful darwazas, mosques and gardens are worth visiting.
